About David Stone
David is a self-taught artist, born and living in Oxford. While he has previously studied art, gaining an A-Level in the subject, his career spans a multitude of industries that allowed him to interact with art, but never focus on it entirely. His previous work outside of art includes advertising, publishing, education, and retail promotions. However, his love of art was not entirely eclipsed by his career.
For many of his years in Hertfordshire, he regularly exhibited work in local spaces, often including work that focused on the pastoral and bucolic elements of his immediate landscape.
David mostly enjoys painting landscapes and buildings, seeking to capture nature's fresh contrasting light, immediate energy, and colour. With every piece, he focuses on relating the sense of vivid warmth to convey the atmosphere of the moment.
Other subjects also engage his interest including still life and portraiture. He is an exponent in the use of various painting mediums such as watercolours, oils, and pastels, exploring their variety of uses within his signature painting style.
